By the Sea

JustRite is holding a sketch challenge (033) this week.

A very good friend decided to give me a challenge for the card this week--to add a lemonade glass to my design.  So using the JustRite "By the Sea set", Imaginisce "Splash Dance-Bubble Bash" paper and Our Craft Lounge "Sparkly fluff-Brown Sugar" I have tried to create a leisure day by the sea.  I stamped the two images from By the Sea, (the chair with umbrella and the sea shells) colored them with Copics and then using a two inch Spellbinder cut them.  Kraft paper was used to mount all three squares with only the center having the scallops.  Sparkly fluff was used as sand around the chair and on the edges of the shell strip on the left side of the card.   The glass is colored with Copic Markers on Vellum and mounted on white to give the 3-D effect.  The Lemon was cut with Spellbinders, colored with copic and a white and silver pen used to make the veins.  A cut was made to the center on the lemon and then mounted on the glass.  A straw was cut and mounted too so that you can imagine yourself drinking lemonade, sitting in your leisure chair by the sea enjoying the last days of summer.  Hope you enjoy.

Autumn Pumpkin

JustRite Friday Challenge #032 is a color challenge using olive, chocolate and pumpkin colors.  I began by using Graphic 45 "Birds in Paradise" paper for my print and Bazzill solids for the brown and orange.  I colored my ribbon making it a stripe using Copic Markers E25  Caribe Cocoa, YG95 Pale Olive and YR16 Sanguine.  I stamped the pumpkin image  from the JustRite set "Autumn Blessing" using Memento Rich Cocoa on the striped paper.  I had stamped it on solar white before and colored using my Copic Markers YR18,  YR16, YR14 and YR04.  The stems and leaves were colored using the Copic Markers that were used on the ribbon.   I added some distress ink to get rid of any white left after cutting.  The leaves were made a multi-color for fall.  After cutting it out I  used foam mount to pop the image.  The verse is from the JustRite set "Natures Nested Sentiments".  This was stamped on Kraft paper and  mounted on brown and orange using the foam mounts.  This was all cut using Spellbinder dies.  The Graphic 45 paper was mounted on brown which was mounted on the orange.  Hope you enjoy

Halloween Moon

This Halloween stamp is by Northwood Stamps.  I used an example they had a CHA to create this card. 17 different Copic Markers were used to complete this card. The bats are from May Arts and the paper from We R Memory Keepers.  Ranger Distress Ink was used on the edges. It looks more complicated than it was.  I had fun coloring--the child in me I guess.  Hope you enjoy.

Back-to-School

Dollar Journal
Back to School is a JustRite 031 challenge.  This week's challenge, sponsored by Spellbinders, is to create something back-to-school related.  Being a teacher myself and my children are adults I created a little something that can be given to a fellow teacher to journal the new school year.  I began by buying a dollar journal at a major retail store.  I decided to cover it with My Mind's Eye "quite contray-be happy" paper.  The paper is two sided so I used the print on the outside and the red stripe on the inside. (pictured at the bottom)   I used Ranger "Tea dye" distress on the paper to take some of the new look away.  In order to get a good fold I used the Scor-pal.  The image was stamped with the apple basket from the JustRite set "Autumn Blessings" and the verse from the JustRite "Cherish the Memories" set.  I put both on the large clear rectangle block to stamp together.  That worked perfect.  The coloring was done with Copic Markers of course. I then cut it with a Spellbinder oval and mounted it on red.  The accessories used are from We R Memory Keepers.  A red tie is used to keep it closed.  I decided I just could not stop there so I made a bookmark using the same basket stamp and a purchased tag that I covered.  This time I cut it with the Spellbinder circle and mounted it on the scallop.  A red ribbon is sandwiched as I cut the print to make a finished back to the circle.  The backside of the bookmark is red.  To finish off this project I needed a large envelope that the book would fit into for storage.  I again used the Scor-Pal to make the envelope storage.  I allowed the spine width of the book for the depth of the envelope and added about 1/2 to the width and length.  Oh I forgot I put a little glossy accents on the basket. This was fun to create and I hope you enjoy.

Happy Birthday-JustRite 030

Pottery Barn Inspiration Photo
This is one of those cards that in my  mind was totally different than what ended up in this picture.  Happy Birthday is made using three sets of stamps from JustRite:  the Happy birthday is from Baroque Nested Frames and Occasions, the border around the flower is from the  Backyard Birds Set and the flowers from the My Garden Set.  Copic Markers were used for the coloring. The woven lace ribbon was white and colored with a Copic Marker to match the flowers.  The label was cut using a Spellbinder die.  Spellbinder Large scallops and a circle were used in the remaining cuts  The paper is Prima Marketing, Watercolor Rainbow collections "Tropical Lagoon".  The inspiration came from the picture from the Pottery Barn's new fall collection.    This may not be what I had in mind, but I think the person receiving this will be very happy.  Hope you enjoy.

Baby-MOJO 150

MOJO 150 Sketch Challenge.  This cute little image is from the Inky Antics "Circle Sentiments" and used on 3 bugs in a rug paper.  Spellbinders were used to cut the circles and Jumbo scalloped borderabilities was used to cut the bottom edge of the background paper. Copic markers to color the image, while a little Sparkly fluff from Our Crafts Lounge was used to add a little dimensional hair.  I added a little pleated ribbon to help finish off the design.  The Mojo challenge was a perfect sketch for this card.  Simple to do.  Hope you enjoy.

JustRite Challenge 029-Sketch-Squares

Inside of the card
JustRite has a sketch challenge this week using squares.  I decided to make a square Christmas card using the Backyard Birds Set (a round set made into a square for this challenge) and Christmas Nested Sentiments and made it an inside/out card.  The paper is doubled sided from Cosmo Cricket "Christmas" and both sides were used to complete the card.  The image on the front was stamped with Momento ink and colored with Copic Markers, cut with Spellbinders and double mounted on the Cosmo Cricket paper then on gold cardstock.  I used Tea Dye distress ink to darken the image.   Stickles "Star Dust" was brushed on the tree branches, (hard to see in the picture)  while Glossy Accents was placed on the snow for a little dimension.  A Martha Stewart punch was used to create the lattice panel with the image placed with foam dots.  A Spellbinder label was used to cut the backside of the main paper and stamped with the Christmas nested sentiments and a gold ribbon finished off the label.  Th Christmas Nested Sentiments, the Cosmo Cricket paper  and the Martha Steward punch were used on the inside of the card.  I had fun making this card and hope you enjoy.

A Lion's Wish

Let's Celebrate is a 2 inch set from JustRite.  I wanted to make something a little different so I began with 3 bugs in a rug paper.  I used the Spellbinder squares plain and scallop to cut my image. Copic Markers were used to color the image and then I enhanced it with Sparkly fluff from Our Craft Lounge.  I stamped using momento rich cocoa the elephant to create my own paper.   Happy Birthday is from JustRite's All Occasions Nested Sentiments and Verse.   A very simple card.  Hope you enjoy.
